When you woke up this morning, how much thought did you put into how you would like to spend the rest of your life? And if you have been giving consideration to your future, then the next question you should ask yourself is: “Am I doing enough?”
If you find yourself not “doing enough,” then it could be that you are still struggling with self-doubt. There are moments when you might find yourself spending long periods in a persistent state of procrastination, fear and self-doubt. And that is natural. However, there comes a time when you must pick yourself up from the ashes and activate and unleash your creative powers.
You have a responsibility to live a life of purpose. I know it is tempting to remain on the sidelines. Sometimes you prefer to stay out of the limelight and remain hidden in the shadows. Working behind the scenes might have become your new comfort zone.
But wouldn’t it be great if the world got to meet you—the real YOU—the phenomenal person you really are?
You know, when I study success stories, one of the takeaways that immediately jumps right out at me is not the person who accomplished the impossible. No, no. I think about the person who passed up the opportunity to launch that great idea, product or service.
Take Uber for example, which is worth an estimated >$60 billion. Travis Kalanick and Garrett Camp turned a simple ride-sharing idea into a multi-billion dollar empire. They accomplished this feat against many odds. Here’s the interesting part of this story. If Kalanick and Camp did not pursue this idea, do you think this concept would have remained trapped in the black hole of procrastination, doubt and regret? No! Someone else would have eventually brought the idea to market.
The same is true about the gifts that reside in you. Your gifts are waiting to burst forth. But they will not wait forever. If you do not give life to your passion(s), then rest assured that someone else will.
Give yourself space and permission to blossom into something truly amazing.
Someone is going to launch that beauty product that looks just like the one you couldn’t stop thinking about—the product you should have launched. People are going to flock to the premiere of the movie, which is based on the book you should have written. Someone is going to build that million-dollar brand that reminds you of the same idea you allowed to remain dormant.
If you have turned silence, inaction and apathy into a profession and a way of life, then it is not too late to wake up from your slumber.
You know there is greatness inside you. And you have felt this way for some time. Instead of surrendering to self-doubt and procrastination, why not give yourself space and permission to blossom into something truly amazing. You are worth it!
