The Kardashian Effect

Why was the iPhone such an overwhelming success? What makes Amazon so compelling? How were Uber and Airbnb able to disrupt and redefine old industries? How were the Kardashians able to turn themselves into super-influencers?

What all of these success stories have in common, is that they connect a product, service, process or idea to people’s needs and desires. These brands found a way to convert their creative energies in the form of unique and compelling stories that captured people’s hearts and attention; thereby, influencing consumer habits.

Every success story has one or more of the following success ingredients, and the key is to find out which one of these ingredients most aligns with your natural ability.

Winning brands are forward-thinking brands and are able to tap into people’s subconsciousness and direct their purchasing decisions. Without exception, every successful personal or professional brand inspires, motivates and/or educates.

Here is the primary takeaway. You do not need formal training or education to become a desired brand. What you do need, however, is to develop an organic relationship with those whom you are trying to reach.

If you are able to convey the image of being a metaphor for success, then your reach will extend beyond your reality out of necessity. If you can find a way to connect your story to people’s hearts, then you are on your way to achieving unparalleled success. If you inspire, motivate or educate, and can get people to accept a timeless essential—meaning, accepting your truth as their truth—then you have won the ultimate winning lottery.
