The following is from a video clip on Twitter by Valarie Kaur
Dr. King grounded an entire social movement in the ethic of love. I believe it is time to reclaim that ethic of love today. But we cannot do it in the same way. We are reclaiming love as a secular public ethic, drawing from various faith traditions but available to all—multi-faith, multi-racial, intersectional, and feminist at its core.
We are defining revolutionary love as sweet labor. I cannot think of a better way to honor Dr. King’s legacy than by rising up with love—through love right now—love for others, love for our opponents, and love for ourselves. To engage in social and political transformation in this way, to complete his dream by completing it with ours.
For those of you who are new to my blog, I expanded on the above theme in my new release, Choose Love Not Hate. It would mean the world to me if you ordered a copy.
