It’s No Longer Good Enough To Be “Good Enough”

If you want to stand out in a crowded field and set yourself up to be noticed in the right ways, then it’s no longer good enough to be “good enough.” What does this mean? It means you have to be special. You have to believe and behave as the phenomenal person you want to become.

It is not enough to do what everyone else is doing and think somehow you are going to experience extraordinary results. That is wishful thinking.

No matter the pursuit or success initiative, there must be actionable plans that involve becoming better each day—doing something you’ve never done—implementing a new strategy that gets you closer to your ridiculously impossible goals.

Breaking from the herd is better than getting lost in it. ―Matshona Dhliwayo

Lest you misunderstand what I’m saying, if you desire to become the best you, then you must be the best you, every day—no days off!

Historically, it has been shown that much of the world’s progress came from those who chose effort over performance, execution over excuses, excellence over mediocrity, and will over complacency.

Here are four strategies you can employ to increase your value and stand out from the crowd.

  • BECOME SELF-AWARE. The one characteristic highly successful people have in common is self-awareness—conscious knowledge of their core values and strengths. Here are five ways to cultivate and develop self-awareness.
  • FOLLOW YOUR EFFORT. Pay attention to where you apply your time. Where you put your time and effort tends to be what you become good at. Here’s what self-made Billionaire Mark Cuban had to say about effort versus passion.
  • SAY “YES” MORE OFTEN.  To achieve high-level success, it necessitates taking intelligent risks. The opportunity to experience something new, something different, and something more, often comes disguised as a ridiculous idea. Check out this Will Smith video.
  • GO ALL IN. Hard work is the price you must be willing to pay for the goals you are trying to reach. There is simply no substitute for hard work—focused and consistent hard work—when it comes to achieving success. Watch this Gary V video.

Since you’re here…

…I wrote a book about love with the aim of sparking a national conversation about tolerance, diversity, and inclusion. It would mean the world to me if you ordered a copy of Choose Love Not Hate today. Thank you.

  2. Hi Josiah How are things with you? Thanks for an inspiring, balanced reminder that dreams and working towards them go hand in hand. It does take persistence, self-awareness and being true to yourself to generate that staying power which produces results, in whatever field or aspect of life one is trying to develop. Keep giving us these reminders. It’s always great to hear form you… Alison
