Back To The Grind

Today was my first day returning to work since October. I am back to the hustle and grind of a ‘nine-to-five.’ Well, not your typical 9-to-5 as the number of hours I work each week depends on the project’s overall work scope and the specific parts of the job that need to be accomplished for that week.

I am certainly going to miss sleeping in and hanging around the house with my family and playing with the cats. I’m also going to miss using those extra hours to research, write, and catch up on Amazon and Netflix shows.

But a man has to eat, right? The plan from now on is to work the entire year with no months off. Last year, I took four months off, and a part of me wishes I did not. I am leaving too much money on the table. The great thing about being in the construction industry is that once I start a project, I can front-load on savings, which gives me the flexibility to take as much time off as I need.

Here’s some information about this gig. This project is located about two miles from the Mexico border. The long stretches of the wall that divides the United States and Mexico are clearly visible. I only wish I did not have to drive 110 miles (one way) to the job. But no complaints here. Doing work you love is to experience freedom from within.

Have a phenomenal week. And remember to live each day as the best version of you.

    1. Hi Miriam. Yes, the drive is long, toooo long, but will give me plenty of time to listen to audiobooks and podcasts. Once the project picks up steam in a few weeks, however, I am leaning toward renting a place close to the job. I hope your week is off to a good start. ☺️

      1. Good idea, both in listening to podcasts on the drive and eventually renting a place. And thanks, my week’s off to a good start. Another short camping trip lined up for next weekend, which I’m looking forward to. 😊
